Tottenham are reportedly in the hunt to sign Inter Milan midfielder Roberto Gagliardini – and luring the Italy international away from the San Siro would see chairman Daniel Levy strike gold.

Gagliardini, 24, has in great form for Inter last season as he effectively played a role similar as to what Mousa Dembele has been doing at Spurs.

The 6ft 2in tall former Atalanta ace is strong, good in the air, quick on his feet and has showcased a brilliant range of passing in his first season and a half with Inter.

And now it seems as though he is starting to attract attention from across Europe with Italian news outlet Tutto Mercato Web claiming that Tottenham and Atletico Madrid are interested in signing him up this summer.

It is understood that Gagliardini is open to leaving the San Siro to play in the Champions League and both Spurs and Atletico can offer him that if he was to pack his bags and leave Italy.

However Spurs are yet to do any business this summer and seem as though they will only sign players if members of Mauricio Pochettino’s current crop were to leave.

One player who could leave is Dembele, who is in the final year of his contract and there has been a lot of speculation about where he may end up by the end of the summer transfer window.

Gagliardini is a ready-made replacement for the Belgium international and due to the fact that transfermarkt values Inter’s midfield kingpin at £18million, signing him could see Levy net a massive return on the player whether it is by almost a decades’ worth of solid performances, or a sharp increase in his value in the Premier League.

Spurs have just over a week left to finally make a signing and this is one that Levy cannot afford to miss out on.
