Celtic are close to signing Australian winger Daniel Arzani on a two-year loan after the 19-year-old checked into the UK, according to the Evening Times.

The newspaper revealed on their website that the teenager is expected to join Manchester City from Melbourne City and then immediately seal a loan switch to the Scottish champions.

The Evening Times report Arzani is expected to complete the paperwork of the deal in the next 24 hours and could be unveiled by Celtic in the coming days.

The Glasgow side will also have the first choice to seal a permanent move for the Australian should he impress in what is anticipated to be a two-season loan stint at Parkhead.

Arzani was the youngest player at this summer’s World Cup, playing in the group stages with Celtic defender Tom Rogic before the Socceroos were knocked out at the first hurdle.

Good move for Celtic?

Arzani featured for A-League side Melbourne City, achieving 31 successful dribbles despite earning four starts from the club’s 18 league games.

The youngster is an exciting talent and won the Harry Kewell medal for the best U23 player from Australia whilst featuring in last year’s A-League Team of the Season.

A loan move is acceptable as Celtic can evaluate whether Arzani is worthy of joining the club permanently and if he can perform against stronger opposition.

Likely to happen?

Yes. The attacker is set to be brought by parent club Manchester City with an immediate loan move already being lined up.

Arzani is unlikely to be a part of City’s first-team and needs to seek experience elsewhere to continue his progression as a footballer.

Arzani would be playing for the Scottish champions and would have top class team mates around him, allowing the teenager to show what he can do.
