Swansea City’s resident Rangers supporter Oli McBurnie has aimed a dig at Celtic after they were dumped out of the Champions League by AEK Athens on Tuesday night.

The Hoops lost 3-2 on aggregate and will now drop into the Europa League after two consecutive seasons of reaching the group stages in the Champions League.

And Scotland international McBurnie took to his personal Twitter account straight after the full-time whistle to rustle some feathers among the Celtic supporters.

“Anyone fancy a kebab?” he said, accompanied with an emoji of the Greek flag.

OPINION

Well, that’s bound to get a reaction. McBurnie has been linked with moving to Rangers on a number of occasions and regularly tweets his support for the Govan club when they are playing and Swansea aren’t. He’s now taken the daring move to fire shots at their Old Firm rivals after a truly dreadful performance in Athens that was deserving of defeat. AEK are nothing special and really, Celtic should have beat them. But Brendan Rodgers has failed to improve this squad of players in the summer transfer window and maybe there will be a silver lining to this where the club actually goes out and strengthens. Stuart Armstrong and Charly Musonda have left Parkhead without being replaced while the only players that have been signed have already played for the Bhoys before. It is hardly an improvement to bring back a left-back who left a year ago is it?
