A section of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to tear Mikael Lustig to shreds for his performance in the 2-1 defeat to AEK Athens on Tuesday night.
Lustig, 31, was named to start at right-back ahead of Cristian Gamboa yet again by Brendan Rodgers, but the Hoops senior player was largely at fault for the opening goal by Rodrigo Galo in which he failed to stop a fairly simple cross by Sweden international team-mate Niklas Hult.
Some Celtic fans were livid with Lustig on social media, and did not hold back from criticising him.
This is Futbol has rounded up some of the best tweets below:
Shocking defending. Lustig is finished and Jack Hendry is never going to make it as a Celtic player. Shambolic.

That’s that then. Lustig worse than useless once again. Central defence absolute passengers. Garbage.

OPINION
Why can everyone see that Celtic need a new right-back except for the people that matter? Lustig may be a good laugh for the fans with his extravagant celebrations and lovable personality, but that doesn’t mean that he’s a good player by any stretch of the imagination. He was horrific against AEK Athens and should have done much better to stop Hult’s cross into the box. It’s not the first time he has been found out with stuff like this and you can understand the fans being so annoyed by his constant appearances in the starting line-up. While some supporters obviously want Lustig gone, we all know that it is simply not going to happen. It would be a huge shock if the Bhoys signed anyone between now and the end of the month. Is the club starting to go backwards? Luckily Rodgers probably won’t be going anywhere but with the players it’s a different ball-game.
