Rangers are looking likely to secure a reunion with former striker Kyle Lafferty this summer after constant transfer talks with his current club Hearts over the weekend, according to reliable insider Four Lads Had a Dream.

The Twitter account and blog, who have established themselves as a reputable source of information surrounding the Light Blues, claim that the two Scottish rivals have been engaged in crunch discussions over the 30-year-old making a move back to Ibrox, six years after leaving.

The account, who have consistently provided the inside track on a number of confirmed Rangers deals this summer, state that they are ‘confident’ a move will go through, having made 134 appearances for the club during his first spell.

Good move for Rangers?

Lafferty has already proven he has what it takes to sink fierce rivals Celtic once this season, scoring the only goal in Hearts’ 1-0 win over the Hoops on Saturday, and considering Steven Gerrard is aiming to topple the Parkhead outfit, he would be ideal to lead the line.

His experience of the division coupled with his natural goalscoring talent is exactly what has been missing for the Light Blues, with Alfredo Morelos too inconsistent to pose a real threat for the entirety of the season.

He might have left under acrimonious circumstances but bringing him back is a no-brainer for Gerrard.

Likely to happen?

It sounded a while ago as though this one might not come off, with Hearts digging their heels in over letting him head back to Ibrox, but things appear to have moved in the right direction.

Nothing is certain until he is holding the shirt, but fans can be quietly confident that Gerrard will have a new striker at his disposal before the end of August.

It appears as though Lafferty is the front runner, but of course, things can change in football, and he might have to go to plan b if things do not go his way.
