Wolverhampton Wanderers have splashed out £5million in significant developments to improve their training ground over pre-season, according to journalist Tim Nash.

The former Express and Star writer claims on his personal Twitter account that the Molineux outfit made the seven-figure spend to upgrade certain areas of their Compton training complex, including two new pitches to replicate the conditions at the stadium and a new warm-up area.

Nuno Esperito and his side will kick off their return to the Premier League with a home game against Everton on Saturday afternoon, having also spent money on improving the first team in the transfer window.

The owners at Wolves are cutting no corners to make sure that the upcoming Premier League campaign is as much a success as possible, and that has been done with significant investment both on and off the pitch. Having a modern training ground not only helps improve the status and development of the club’s current stars, but is also important in convincing prospective signings to make the move to the midlands – not that they have had any trouble in bringing in some seriously big names this summer. The fact that the board have been willing to invest in the training facilities shows they are interested in making their time at Wolves a long-term project, and fans will not want the current situation to end any time soon. Now the players have to prove the money has been well spent and that starts with putting in the best possible performance against Everton on Saturday in front of what will be a bouncing Molineux crowd.
