A selection of Leeds United fans have taken to social media to react to the club’s joke about Marcelo Bielsa’s bucket being some early team news for the clash against Derby County.

In the opening clash of the Whites’ season, the impressive 3-1 win over recently relegated Stoke City at Elland Road, many supporters picked up on their new manager’s decision to sit on a bucket on the touchline rather than in the dugout seats.

As such, the club took to their official Twitter account to joke that the bucket was part of the team heading to Pride Park in an early team news ‘reveal’

Many fans applauded the club’s wit on the social networking site, with some even asking when the replica buckets would be on sale.

Opinion

Spirits are high at Elland Road and the club are keeping the bandwagon rolling with social media posts like this. Bielsa has been a huge boon for the Whites and you just have to look at the reactions of the fans to see how positive things are around the club right now. It seems like a lifetime ago that the Elland Road faithful were being left frustrated by their side on the way to a bitterly disappointing 13th place finish in the Championship, and a jokey post like this would have been torn to pieces. Now, things are looking up both on and off the field, although they could be brought right back down to earth with defeat against Derby. It is up to Bielsa to keep his players grounded and not let their bright start over Stoke get them too hyped about the season ahead. They cannot forget that Leeds topped the table at the start of last season and came back down to earth with a hefty bump.
