Wolves fans will be left feeling pretty excited about the upcoming season and not just because it is the club’s return to the Premier League.

The Molineux outfit wiped the floor with the rest of the Championship on the way to the second tier title, with promotion coming as a result of their top place finish, and they have wasted no time in strengthening their side to ensure they are ready for everything the top flight throws their way.

The arrival of prestigious names such as Rui Patricio and Joao Moutinho highlight that the midlands side are not willing to be taken lightly by their rivals, but it sounds as though the club are about to make one of the most stunning signings of the summer.

Last season’s assist king Barry Douglas was allowed to leave after just a year at the club, joining Leeds United, and it would have been expected that Ruben Vinagre and Jonny Castro, both summer arrivals, would battle it out for the vacant left back spot.

However, the Sun claim on their website that Wolves have identified Paris St Germain wing back Layvin Kurzawa as a potential deadline day swoop, with a record breaking £22million price tag reportedly on the head of the 25-year-old.

The French international is widely regarded as one of the best in his role in Europe, so to see Wolves, a recently promoted side, named as a possible suitor, will come as a serious shock to many.

If Kurzawa is the man to take the place Douglas has vacated, then Wolves may well be sealing the best upgrade of the last decade – Manchester City replacing Richard Dunne and Stephen Ireland with Vincent Kompany and Robinho in 2008 perhaps falling to second place.

With this deal, Wolves will be more than Premier League ready – they will be serious competitors pushing for a top half finish in their first season back.
