West Ham are willing to send defender Reece Oxford out on loan but have rejected the enquires made regarding borrowing Declan Rice or Nathan Holland, according to a club insider.

Well-known Hammers insider ExWHUEmployee shared via a blog post on The West Ham Way that the Premier League side had received enquires from number of clubs about taking Rice and Holland on loan but that those sides had been told both players are unavailable.

The insider stated that Oxford is available on loan but that the only offer that has been made to borrow him was by Bolton.

It is believed the Championship side offered to pay 70% of the centre-back’s wages but that the player’s agent wasn’t keen on him making that move.

OPINION

The insider claimed that no other side has shown interest in borrowing Oxford since Bolton but that the Hammers definitely want him to have a spell away from the club. This makes complete sense as it’s hard to envision Manuel Pellegrini calling on the 19-year-old centre-back to aid the first-team’s defensive woes anytime soon as there are plenty of other options ahead of him in the pecking order. Previous Hammers manager David Moyes tried to welcome Oxford in from the cold in January when he briefly returned from loan spell in January but the teenager looked miles off being ready to deliver the goods for the London side. Hopefully the enforcer secures a loan exit before the window shuts as he desperately needs one to pick up vital experience to help him improve. In regards to the insider’s update on Holland and Rice both players will be happy that they’re sticking around at the London Stadium as both have the tools in their locker in order to make a positive impact on the first-team if given the chance. Rice may have struggled against Liverpool in his side’s opening game this season but he proved in his 34 appearances last season that he should be a regular member of the first-team.
