After the Sun reported that a shock return to West Ham for James Collins was on the cards with a new one-year deal, a club Insider has said that the player would like to return to the club.

ExWHUemployee, a solid source of West Ham news with close links to the club, said that the player had been training with the West Ham first team.

He added that Collins had an offer from Championship club Reading but was ultimately hoping for an offer form West Ham.

If the Sun report is true, it looks like that could be set to happen. They claim that club owners are readying a new one-year deal for the enforcer after a rough start to the season for Pellegrini’s new men.

OPINION

This would be a massive u-turn from West Ham chiefs who treated Collins disgracefully after his loyal service. Collins had made it clear that he wanted a new West Ham deal with his contract expiring over the summer. Instead, they let it run down and informed him that they wouldn’t be renewing it over email. After that it’s surprising perhaps that Collins would countenance a return but he still wants a West Ham deal by the looks of it. It would be an emotional return for Ginge and with the West Ham defence currently leaking goals, he’d surely have a decent chance of getting back in the team.
