Tottenham Hotspur legend Graham Roberts has delivered an instant Twitter verdict following their 3-1 win over Fulham on Saturday, and singled out winger Lucas Moura for his goalscoring performance.

Moura put Spurs ahead with a sumptuous curling finish in the first half before Aleksandar Mitrovic equalised for Fulham, but second-half goals from Kieran Trippier and Harry Kane secured a second successive win for the Lilywhites.

Club legend Roberts has now delivered his verdict on the win on Twitter, saying he “loved” Moura’s hard-working display against the Cottagers.

OPINION

Moura was one of three stand out performers for Spurs against Fulham, with Kane and Trippier being the other two. The Brazilian speed demon was a menace all day for Fulham, who struggled to contain him throughout. Moura should have put Tottenham ahead much earlier than he did as he somehow put a header wide from six yards out, but recovered so well to score the opener. The absence of Son Heung-min, who is currently at the Asian Games with South Korea, is set to hand Moura the chance to stake his claim for a starting place for Spurs in the long run, and he has set about doing that in style. His first league goal for the club should give him the confidence to continue this into next weekend’s clash with Manchester United, which is their first tough test of the season. Roberts also singles out Lamela and Kane for praise here, and both did indeed put in good displays, with Kane ending his August drought while Lamela gave the team some added impetus when he came on.
