Fiorentina’s Carlos Sanchez has passed a medical and agreed terms on a last-minute move to West Ham, according to Sky Sports.

A report on their live transfer blog (4.50pm) has said that the deal is almost done as West Ham set to complete the last-gasp deal ahead of the 5pm deadline.

He should be the final player into West Ham on a permanent deal this summer, after a busy summer for manager Manuel Pellegrini

Good move for West Ham?

West Ham fans are split about Sanchez after he flopped in the Premier League for Aston Villa. However, not every signing can be a marquee name and Sanchez is being brought in for depth in the squad. He’s got 88 caps for his country, and was part of the side that lost to England in the World Cup. He’ll improve Pellegrini’s side and for that reason alone he’s definitely a good player to bring in. It will be West Ham’s Tenth signing of a very exciting summer and brings their spending to around £115million. That makes such a marked contrast to last summer and the ongoing discontent that eventually led to player protests at the London Stadium. West Ham fans will be eagerly looking forward to a very different style of football in the Premier League this season.

Likely to happen?

This one is all but done and despite the late hour this one will get over the line. Sanchez has passed his medical and agreed terms, and the paperwork will be being processed now. Expect this one to be officially announced later on tonight.
