Newcastle United defender Josef Yarney has agreed terms over a six-month loan deal with Morecambe.
The Shrimps confirmed the capture of the 20-year-old centre back via both their official Twitter account and website, with the former Everton man yet to make his senior debut in football.

The defender, who arrived at St James’ Park on a free transfer in the summer of 2017 at the end of his contract with the Toffees, made 20 appearances for Newcastle’s under-20 side during the last campaign and confirmed that the Tyneside club’s capture of Federico Fernandez had allowed him to make the move to the west coast.

Yarney has not yet been given the chance to prove himself in the first team at either Everton or Newcastle, but at the age of 20, he really should be getting senior action somewhere – and it appears as though Morecambe will give him his first taste down in League Two. He may have to make an immediate impact as well, with the Shrimps sitting dead last in England’s fourth division after a 6-0 thrashing at the hands of Crewe Alexandra on the opening day of the season. If Yarney can bring in some strength and power to help his loan side remain resolute at the back, then it will be a big boost for both him and the club. The six month deal means that Newcastle can reassess his situation come January, and if they feel he needs more game time then they can send him back out on loan. Alternatively, they might feel he could play a part in the first team, backing up the likes of Jamaal Lascelles and Fabian Schar.
