Many Newcastle United fans on social media reacted to Sheik Khaled Bin Zayed Al Nehayan reportedly making a £2billion bid to buy Liverpool.

The Daily Mail reported on Thursday that Sheik Khaled, a cousin of Manchester City owner Sheik Mansour, had made a record £2billion attempt to takeover the Reds only to see his offer turned down.

After reading the report several Magpies supporters tweeted to urge Sheik Khaled to purchase them with several sharing that they found it baffling that no one would come into purchase Newcastle United in such a manner.

OPINION

It’s easy to see why lots of Newcastle fans are reacting to a bid to buy Liverpool as they would love for someone to swoop in and purchase their club from Mike Ashley.  It’s understandable that one Magpies supporter claims it’s heartbreaking to see a £2billion offer go in for a Premier League rival who appears to not be for sale, even when that sort of staggering bid is submitted as Newcastle United feels like it has been on the market for ages. However aside from sharing their disappointment at seeing another set of supporters get news that they would love to have at least Magpies supporters haven’t lost their humour. The amount of fans jokingly suggesting that they send pictures of bridges in order to lure the Sheik into purchasing the club is amusing and shows that fans can even joke when they’re clearly not thrilled by a report. Hopefully an offer to buy the Magpies emerges as clearly it will end up feeling like Christmas day for fans.
