Striker Adam Armstrong has joined Blackburn Rovers from Newcastle United on a permanent deal.

The Toon confirmed Armstrong’s exit on their official Twitter account.

The 21-year-old has signed for the Championship outfit for an undisclosed fee on a four-year deal.

The striker made 21 senior appearances in his career with the Magpies.

OPINION

The striker has been for sale for quite a while now so it’s no surprise that Armstrong has been sold but it is a surprise that the younger was never really given a chance in the Magpies first team despite showing real potential in his loan spells. With Newcastle looking for a striker, Armstrong could have been a good option and he wouldn’t have cost a single penny, which would have allowed the Toon to keep Dwight Gayle, as he’s rumoured to be leaving in exchange for Salomon Rondon, which could have allowed Rafael Benitez to strengthen other areas of his squad. His record of 29 goals in 61 League One appearances suggests that he’s got a real talent for goalscoring and he will only improve further as he gets older, this sale to Blackburn might be one that the Toon will come to regret in a few years time.
