Premier League giants West Brom have given West Brom the green light to seal a deal for winger Sheyi Ojo in a £12million swoop, according to the Sunday Sun.

The newspaper claim in their print edition (5 August, Page 61) that the Reds are willing to sell the 21-year-old attacker to the Baggies for the eight-figure fee but that after helping Fulham secure Premier League football last season via the playoffs, he wants to stay in England’s top flight.

It is stated that the Cottagers are plotting to take him back on another temporary deal, while Watford are also named as suitors, but that Liverpool want to secure a permanent deal instead.

Good move for West Brom?

At £12million, Ojo’s capture is an expensive outlay for someone who has not exactly been a consistent performer in the Premier League or Championship, and just goes to show how much prices have rocketed over recent years.

The fact he is coming from Liverpool does not help the Baggies’ cause, and quite frankly the Reds are charging through the nose for someone that is never going to be part of their first team.

Still, the Baggies seem happy to pay the money and if Moore feels as though his addition can help the club back to the top flight then it may well just be worth it.

Likely to happen?

The Premier League competition, plus Ojo’s own desire to stay in the top flight, makes this one a difficult swoop to pull off but there is no reason the Baggies cannot seal a deal if they are keen enough.

Liverpool’s desire for a permanent move over a loan gives them the advantage, and promises of bonuses upon a top flight return should motivate Ojo enough for him to agree terms to a move.

It might take some negotiating, but the Baggies can make this proposed switch a reality.
