Liverpool striker Danny Ings missed training today and is waiting on stand-by for a potential deadline-day medical dash, according to a reliable journalist.
The Mirror’s Merseyside correspondent David Maddock reported on his personal Twitter account on Thursday afternoon that Ings is in “ongoing talks” to complete a last-gasp move from Anfield.
Maddock explained his suitors Southampton or Crystal Palace must strike a “definitive agreement” with Liverpool “in the next hour” or Ings will remain at Anfield this season.

The ball is in the court of Southampton and Palace. The equation is a seemingly simple one. Pay the asking price – reported to be between £24million to £26million – for the former Burnley striker or miss out on signing him. Such a sum would represent a healthy profit for Liverpool on the one-time England international, who has been a fringe figure since joining three years ago for a fee set at £8million by a tribunal. Injuries have derailed the centre-forward, particularly two serious knee problems, and he found his first-team path blocked last season by the holy trinity of Mohamad Salah, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah. With Daniel Sturridge looking fit and motivated in pre-season, scoring six goals in the process, Ings has slipped even further down the pecking order and it is difficult seeing him getting much game time if the senior quartet, along with Xherdan Shaqiri, stay injury-free. Ings might prove a luxury too far for Jurgen Klopp, and perhaps Liverpool should sell him, even if their valuation is not met.
