With Swansea City reportedly being in the race to sign Everton midfielder Muhamed Besic then the Welsh club should ensure they win the battle for his services as he is exactly what they need.

Leeds Live reported on Friday that the Swans were interested in borrowing the 25-year-old midfielder just like Championship rivals Leeds United and Middlesbrough.

Graham Potter needs a top-quality midfielder like Besic to arrive at the Liberty Stadium to make his job easier as his side’s current options in the centre of midfield aren’t exactly hitting it out of the park.

This was particularly noticeable during the Swans’ latest performance against Birmingham City on Friday as both Tom Carroll and Jay Fulton struggled during the match.

While Fulton may have played well against Preston North End in the previous game, it’s clear that Potter could do with some options to choose from when it comes to his midfield line-up.

There are few better options to take then Toffees midfielder Besic as not only is he great talent, he has proven that he can deliver the goods in the Championship.

The 25-year-old, who earns £30,000-a-week at his Premier League club (Source: Spotrac), is a sublime passer of the ball, a tough tackler and rarely gives away possession carelessly unlike current Swans midfielder Carroll.

Besic showed off all this attributes while playing 17 times at Boro last season while on loan with them and it’s easy to imagine him adding that little bit of quality that the Swans currently lack in their midfield.

Also the 26-year-old aside from being able to play as a defensive midfielder or central midfielder, could offer additional cover for the Swans at centre-back as he previously played in that position 44 times in his career.

This all means that the Swans must ensure they win the reported race to borrow the Premier League midfielder this summer as he is exactly what they need.
