OPINION

This is a deal that all Everton fans were expecting to happen over the last few months, it has taken a while to come to fruition but with just six days of the window to go, they’ve finally managed to offload the Belgian. This confirmed transfer news means that the club’s decision to give him the number eight shirt for the upcoming season even more ridiculous. Why would the club give such a prestigious number to a player who was clearly on the verge of leaving when the numbers were announced? It is an absolutely inexplicable decision by the Toffees and one that the Goodison Park faithful clearly disagreed with when it was announced. The fans will now be hoping that someone else is brought in who is actually good enough to wear the famous number eight shirt at Everton because Mirallas certainly was not. Marco Silva has done the right thing by getting the Belgian off the wage bill, now he must bring in a better quality replacement.
