Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa wants to end Mo Besic’s nightmare at Everton and bring him to Elland Eoad in a deadline day deal., according to the Daily Mirror (live transfer blog, 7.12am).

The report claims that Bielsa wants the £4.5million deal done by 5pm but has a plan B if that doesn’t happen.

If they don’t get the deal over the line in time, Bielsa will look to take him on loan with a view to making the deal permanent in the summer window.

The Mirror adds that Besic, who has 31 caps for Bosnia-Herzagova, is now his top target after learning that Everton are looking to offload him.

Good move for Leeds?

Without a shadow of a doubt. Besic arrived in a £4.3million deal in 2014 and it seems that Everton are happy to wash their face and sell him for a similar price. He’s only made 56 appearances for Everton and his time is definitely up there. He’s still got three years left on his contract so it will take a fee in the region of £4.5million to land him, but he would make an impact in the Leeds midfield after Bielsa lost Ronaldo Vieira to Sampdoria. Besic impressed in the Championship last season when he spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Middlesbrough.

Likely to happen?

We don’t see why not. He is Bielsa’s top target according to the Mirror and Everton want to get rid. The only stumbling block to a deadline-day deal is that MD Angus Kinnear said that Leeds would probably only strengthen through loans now, available until to the end of August. However, that wouldn’t stop Bielsa’s Plan B, which is to take the Everton man on loan and make the deal permanent either in January or the summer.
