Bernard has completed his medical at Everton and his signing should be officially announced this morning, according to a reliable journalist.
Dominic King, from the Daily Mail, made the claim on his personal Twitter page on Thursday morning, ahead of the 5pm deadline.
He also provided an update on their potential move for Andre Gomes, saying that the Barcelona midfielder was desperate for the move to happen.
King claimed this would be on an initial loan deal.

Good move for Everton?
Getting Bernard and Gomes on deadline day would be some stunning business from Everton. Fans love a bit of last-minute drama and the potential deal for Gomes came out of the blue. However, King thinks that the 25-year-old Barcelona man is desperate to join on a potential loan deal. That would mean that Everton don’t have to complete the move today, which would give them some wriggle room to get it done.

Likely to happen?
Splitting this down to two separate deals, the Bernard one looks done and dusted with an announcement expected imminently. Gomes, if it is a loan deal, is unlikely to get done today but it does sound like all parties are happy for the deal to go ahead. There could well be a lot of competition for his signature though, so it could all come down to whether King’s assessment of Gomes is correct and how much sway he has at the club.
