Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has been left disheartened by his omission from Maurizio Sarri’s squad and impending loan exit, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claim that the 23-year-old is set to join AC Milan on a season-long loan, a move which is expected to be completed on Saturday.

The Mirror report that the former Monaco midfielder has failed to impress Sarri in pre-season after a tough first term in the Premier League, with the new Blues boss now looking to trim the size of his squad.

OPINION

It is no wonder that Bakayoko has been left disappointed by his omission and subsequently imminent loan exit. The Frenchman did have a poor first season at Stamford Bridge but had an opportunity to put that behind him with the change of managers at the club this summer. He could have easily played himself into Sarri’s plans with a good pre-season, but he has obviously failed to do so and is set to pay the price. Maybe a loan exit to Milan will do him some good as he gets away from the stresses of the Premier League, but playing for such a big club will also come with huge pressure. There is obviously a brilliant young midfielder waiting to be unleashed in there, but Bakayoko is yet to show the form he did for Monaco since arriving in England last summer. Hopefully he can put that behind him and find his feet once again in Italy.
