Marco Silva has a huge chance to grant the wishes of many Everton fans by signing Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma, after it was reported that the Frenchman’s future at Stamford Bridge has been plunged into doubt.

The Daily Mail has reported that the 23-year-old has lost his No 5 shirt number to Chelsea’s new signing Jorginho, leaving him without a number ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.

It is understood that Zouma wants to be playing regular first team football, but is unsure about whether Maurizio Sarri will hand him much of a role at Stamford Bridge over the course of the campaign.

With Zouma’s future in London in doubt, Everton now have the perfect chance to move in and bolster their defence by signing the two-times France international.

The Toffees leaked goals last season, conceding more than relegated clubs like West Brom and Swansea even though they managed to finish eighth in the league standings while playing some of the worst football ever seen on Merseyside.

Silva is already starting to thin out his defensive options too with Sky Sports reporting that Ashley Williams is heading for a medical with Stoke, where Zouma spent last season on loan.

And even though he was relegated with the Potters, many Everton fans have been taking to Twitter to urge the club to sign the Chelsea centre-back to strengthen their defence.

According to statistics website Spotrac, Zouma is earning £40,000-a-week on his deal at Stamford Bridge, so it is not like the Toffees will not be able to match his current wages.

As he is obviously down the pecking order, he should be quite affordable in terms of a transfer fee too.

Silva has only signed left-back Lucas Digne to strengthen his defence this summer and he must sign a centre-back soon.

The fans want Zouma to be brought in, and that is exactly what Silva should do.
