A section of Everton fans have taken to Twitter to urge the club to sign Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma.
The 23-year-old spent last season on loan at Stoke as they were relegated from the Premier League, but the shortage of quality defenders at Goodison Park has seen supporters suggest that Marco Silva should snap up the two-times France international.
Everton conceded 58 goals in the Premier League last season – more than relegated West Brom and Swansea.
Some fans are clearly concerned about how Silva is yet to improve his centre-back options, and are now crying out for Chelsea powerhouse Zouma to be signed, with one urging director of football Marcel Brands to make the move.

Zouma has pace and is a solid defender. Chelsea aren’t using him so I’d like to start the rumour that we want him. We don’t, but maybe Marcel is reading tweets this evening. #Zouma #EFC #PleaseMarcel

Zouma, who is known for his strength and no-nonsense defending, is earning £40,000-a-week on his deal at Chelsea, according to statistics website Spotrac.
OPINION
Zouma had a tough 2017/18 season with Stoke, but it would be simplistic to say that he would be a poor signing for Everton just because the Potters were relegated. These Everton fans are surely remembering how good the Frenchman was for Chelsea before he suffered a serious knee injury that kept him sidelined for almost all of the season before. The Toffees definitely need someone like him and a loan deal would be a good idea if their Premier League rivals are willing to let him leave temporarily. Zouma still has five years left on his contract so a permanent deal would probably be out of the question.
