Celtic striker Moussa Dembele has been training with the Celtic squad on Friday morning, according to a reliable journalist.

Raman Bhardwaj, a journalist with STV, made the claim on his personal Twitter page on Friday afternoon.

It represents a turnaround after the player missed training on the day of the Europa play-off amid a potential late summer move to France.

Dembele has been the subject of a “significant” bid from French club Lyon, with Sky Sports reporting that he was unhappy after Rodgers confirmed the bid had been rejected.

He was left out of the squad that beat Suduva to book their place in the Europa League group stage.

OPINION

It looks like Celtic striker Moussa Dembele will be staying with Celtic after all. He might not be happy about it but it looks like he’s not going to do anything stupid. Having him back in training is a massive boost ahead of the Old Firm game on Sunday. They came through without him last night and now it will be Rodgers’ job to re-integrate him back into the team ahead of a massive game against their rivals, although we can’t see him starting. His teammates should be happy to have him back and Dembele should accept that he’s not going anywhere and continue to play at his highest level. As Rodgers himself admitted, Dembele isn’t going to stay at Celtic forever, but it looks like he is going to be there for at least another six months. Why Lyon left it so late to make a “significant” bid is anyone’s guess. Had they tabled the bid a month ago you’d have to think the outcome would have been very different.
