Stan Collymore has claimed that Jose Mourinho is “finished” as Manchester United slumped to a 3-2 defeat to Brighton at the AMEX on Sunday afternoon.

Chris Hughton’s side made the most of some shocking defending by the Red Devils in order to grab a surprise, yet deserved, three points on the south coast.

Speaking on his personal Twitter account during the game, Collymore absolutely tore the Man United senior man to shreds and pointed out his treatment of his own players and attitude towards other managers as a major downfall.

“Shaw, Pogba, Martial, the moodiness, spite, moaning, jealous barbs towards Pep and Klopp,” the former Liverpool forward said.

“Analyse the players all you like today, reality is, the players have crossed that line in the sand of no return.

“They really don’t like nor trust the man giving instruction.

“He’s finished.”

OPINION

Wow. Collymore has pulled no punches in this scathing assessment of Mourinho and it is bound to get a lot of reaction over the next 24 hours. The former Liverpool and Aston Villa man is absolutely spot on though. Mourinho’s management career has been embarrassing in the last couple of years and he has done literally nothing to improve this Man United team despite all the money he has spent. Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku have been his most expensive acquisitions but have blown hot and cold, Alexis Sanchez has done nothing of note at Old Trafford since January and the rest of them, especially in defence, have been average. Manchester United players cannot be ‘average’, they have to be world-beaters and it is a massive issue that Mourinho has to sort out if he gets to January. His squad has no leaders, no balance and at the moment, no hope.
