A selection of West Brom fans have turned to social media to destroy the performance of midfield mainstay Chris Brunt after his display against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday evening (7 August).

The Baggies travelled to the City Ground to try and find their first points of the new Championship campaign, having lost at home to Bolton Wanderers on the opening day of the season, but struggled to make the start they desired, going into half time level despite having been dominated by the home side.

It was Forest who grabbed the first goal, Adlene Guediora netting a long range strike on the hour mark, but Matt Phillips netted with a powerful effort of his own in the final five minutes of the clash to salvage a point.

Of the Baggies players, it was 33-year-old Brunt, a mainstay for the club last season, who was decimated by the supporters on Twitter, with many criticising the decision to start him in central midfield over his natural wide role.

This is Futbol has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ best tweets:

Opinion

Brunt may well be a favourite of the Baggies faithful but that has not stopped them tearing his performance to pieces after what was a disappointing display from the veteran star. West Brom fans are right to be fuming though, for he should have more than enough quality to terrorise defences with his quality. The excuse of being played in an unfamiliar central role just is not enough, for he really should be able to adapt his game to work in the position that Darren Moore wants to see him in. If this is what fans can expect to see if he continues in the starting XI, then quite frankly he does not deserve to be there.
