Some Nottingham Forest fans took to social media in order to heavily criticise midfielder Ben Watson for his display against Birmingham City on Saturday.
Forest drew 2-2 with Birmingham City at the City Ground on Saturday evening and several supporters of Aitor Karanka’s side didn’t hold back when it came to critiquing Watson’s performance during that game.
The 5ft 8in tall midfielder (Source: Transfermarkt) started the game against Garry Monk’s team but was substituted at the 66th minute mark and replaced by Ben Osborn.
One Forest fan tweeted that their side improved once Osborn replaced Watson while another supporter claimed that they didn’t rate the 33-year-old midfielder last season and rated him even less now.
This Is Futbol has rounded up some of the best tweets about Watson’s latest display:
Teams will fear playing #nffc…….. purely cos we have robbed most of them blind this season! Very poor performance but it shows what a bit of energy and urgency in the play will do. As for Murphy and Watson…. oh dear.

1st game of the season for me, wow, not good. Defence looks dodgy, Watson was awful, Soudani was a headless chicken, totally dominated in midfield. Karanka needs to decide on his best 11. Good use of subs #nffc

I was crying out for subs after 18 mins, that's how bad I thought we were. And jeez did we miss Pep. Shocker by Watson. #nffc

Not slating Fox and Figs at all but we've now conceded 6 goals in 4 league games. Not really good enough, especially with Daws and Hef on the sidelines.
Also, not sure what Watson gives us? #nffc— Major Oak ? (@JR_Oak7) August 25, 2018

I like Karanka . Honest assessment of the game , we were poor (but helluva fight back )and he said so . Much improved post Osborn . Murphy had no service but still scored , Watson was woeful . #nffc

Figuerido and Watson were dire today… suspect Hefele and Osborn will come straight in for those two against Brentford, along with Lolley for Dias and Carvalho for Soudani #nffc

OPINION
Forest fans certainly didn’t hold back when came to destroying Watson for his latest performance. In fact they were so blunt about his woeful display that perhaps one fan labelling his display a shocker was actually one of the kindest things said about his latest outing as it implied they expected better from him. The 33-year-old had a nightmare of a first-half against Birmingham City as it was his carelessness in possession that contributed to Lukas Jutkiewicz scoring the opening goal of the game for Monk’s side. Watson’s match didn’t get any better from that point as he just failed to win the midfield battle for his team and his passes were sloppy. It was no surprised when his number was held up and he left the pitch and it was even less of surprise when the team appeared to improve upon his departure. The 33-year-old is clearly facing the axe ahead of Forest’s next game and needs to dramatically improve his performances if he wants a future at the club.
