A number of Leeds United fans have been left drooling over the performance of defender Pontus Jansson for his display in the clash against Norwich City on Saturday.
The Whites played out a an entertaining tie with the Canaries, first half goals from Mateusz Klich and Ezgjan Alioski giving the Whites a great start before Pablo Hernandez netted in the second 45 minutes to seal the win.
However, it was the performance of 6’3″ giant (source: Transfermarkt) Jansson, stepping back into the starting XI after missing the midweek draw against Swansea City, which had the Elland Road faithful raving for all the right reasons, as he put in a number of important tackles to keep the home side at bay at Carrow Road.

Jansson was sorely missed against Swansea in the 2-2 draw and he proved why fans were keen to see him return as soon as possible with this performance against the Canaries. He was a rock at the back for the Whites and while the Leeds faithful have their attacking talents to thank for an exciting display away from home, Jansson’s resolute performance ensured that the home side were kept at bay. With important blocks, last ditch tackles and a number of interceptions, it showed what Leeds miss if they do not have an experienced centre back in their side. With Liam Cooper out of action for a couple of weeks, Jansson’s return has proved to be massively important, and if he can keep up this sort of display for the rest of the season then Leeds must be looking at pushing for a top six spot – if not a place for automatic promotion.
