Leeds United are not interested in taking Derby striker Cameron Jerome on loan for the rest of the season, according to Phil Hay from the Yorkshire Evening Post.

He made the claim on his personal Twitter page on Monday afternoon after a report from Football Insider had linked Leeds with Jerome.

The report claimed that Bielsa wanted cover for strikers Patrick Bamford and Kemar Roofe, but Hay claimed that Leeds are focusing on getting a midfielder in.

OPINION

That seems to put the Cameron Jerome story to bed and it was always one that didn’t seem to make a lot of sense. Leeds might need cover in midfield, with Ronaldo Vieira going to Sampdoria, but they’ve got no problems in attack at the moment. Kemar Roofe has been deployed there successfully in the first three Championship games of the season and he’s already scored three goals. He’s keeping big-money summer signing Patrick Bamford on the bench and he’ll want to get his chance to show what he can do soon. With Tyler Roberts in waiting as well, a move for Jerome would have been unnecessary. We think Leeds will get one more body in before the end of the summer loan window closes and possibly two, but they’ll be a midfielder and a centre-back, not another striker. Jerome could still move on loan – he’s fallen down the pecking order at Derby – but it won’t be to Elland Road.
