Leeds have been linked with a whole host of players in the run-up to the end of the summer transfer window, but it seems that there are only two names that are real possibilities, according to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist, Phil Hay.

He responded to a fan’s question on Twitter and was asked whether there was firm interest in Ryan Woods, Oliver Norwood, Muhammed Besic, Matthew Pennington and Marcus Maddison.

Hay said that Woods and Besic would likely be too expensive, while Norwood has been looked at.

Hay added a name that the fan hadn’t mentioned, saying that there was genuine interest in 30-year-old Aston Villa midfielder  Albert Adomah.

He also claimed that while Leeds would like Pennington, Everton might want guaranteed game time, which Leeds can’t promise.

Good move for Leeds?

This would be a great move but surely Adomah would be fairly costly too? He cost £3million two years ago from Middlesbrough and enjoyed a standout season in the Championship for Villa last campaign, scoring 14 goals and registering five assists in 39 league games. That sort of contribution from a midfielder is one of the chief reasons Villa got themselves into the play-offs. At 30-years-old he might have his best years behind him but he would be a force in the 18/19 season if he can stomach the thought of playing at Bielsa-tempo for a full season.

Likely to happen?

Adomah has two years left on his contract and after a scary summer, the new owners mean that Villa don’t have to sell anyone if they don’t want to. We can’t see them getting rid of such a key player so close to the transfer deadline, but Hay claims the interest is genuine and doesn’t put any obstacles in the way.
