Wolves have confirmed that centre-back Cameron John has agreed a new deal with the club.

The West Midlands club announced on their official website and official Twitter account on Monday that John, 18, has signed a deal that keeps him at Molineux until 2020, with the option of an extra year.

John is yet to make a senior appearance for Wolves in a competitive game, however he was part of the club’s pre-season tour of Switzerland alongside five other players from Scott Sellars’ Under-23s.

OPINION

John is one of the best young centre-backs currently making his way through the system at Wolves and it will not be long before he gets the chance to show Nuno Espirito Santo what he can do in the first-team. He has already had a chance to show his potential in Switzerland and has had a good start to the season in the Under-23s. It is unlikely that Nuno will be handing him a Premier League debut any time soon however we can expect to start seeing him on the bench every now and then or featuring in cup matches. It could be that John is sent out on loan before the end of the month too. There will no doubt be some lower league clubs that could do with an extra defender before the loan window shuts at the end of August and John could do with the experience in order to aid his development.
