Blackburn Rovers are lining up another offer for Nottingham Forest ace Ben Brereton, according to Sun reporter Alan Nixon.

The reliable journalist claimed on his personal Twitter account on Saturday morning that the North West club are plotting a loan-to-buy move for the 19-year-old forward, who could end up being frozen out at the City Ground.

The Nottingham Post has recently reported that the Reds turned down a £5million bid from Blackburn for Brereton on deadline day.

OPINION

It would be a bit of a shock if Brereton was to join Blackburn of all clubs having been linked to the Premier League in the last couple of years. The 19-year-old still has a lot of potential and could become a top-flight striker in the future, but at the moment, he is not producing the goods at Forest despite getting a lot of game-time. Last season, Brereton made 39 appearances across all competitions but only scored six goals. The England Under-19s international was forced to play out wide a lot, which did not help but he still needed to make more of an impression than he did. In the opening games of this campaign, he has not been included in Aitor Karanka’s squad and the risk of him being cast to the fringes of the squad is increasing. If Blackburn’s offer is good, Karanka should take it put make sure he ties in a sell-on clause if the striker leaves Ewood Park for big money in the future.
