A section of Aston Villa fans have been left raging on Twitter after it was reported that West Brom have made an approach for defender Ritchie De Laet.
According to Football Insider, the Baggies have enquired about the 29-year-old’s availability as Darren Moore aims to add one more right-back to his squad before the loan window slams shut on Friday.
It is understood that it would be a loan-to-buy deal if it happens, and some Villa fans are furious with the idea of potentially losing the former Manchester United man.

OPINION
Aston Villa’s defence has not been the greatest since the season started but for whatever reason, De Laet just cannot get into Steve Bruce’s plans and that has really upset these fans. It seems as though many are probably taking more issue over the fact that the Belgian could be sent to bitter rivals West Brom more than anything, but at the end of the day, a lot of them are jumping the gun here because nowhere does it say that Bruce is willing to let the 29-year-old move to The Hawthorns. It’s not like Aston Villa and West Brom don’t do business with each other. Joleon Lescott and James Chester have recently moved between the two West Midlands rivals, with each having different impacts. De Laet is clearly not getting a chance to impress at Villa Park and as much as fans want to see him feature, he has not even made the bench in the league this season and would surely want to leave if he has the chance.

Another Bruce masterpiece right here a player that won the league with Leicester, has a brilliant preseason then doesn’t even get a look in because of his favourites (Hutton Elmo and Taylor)

Should be playing for us week in week out stop sending good players out on loan especially to West brom as we might need them

Bruce wants horse whipping if he lets the best right back at the club go. Can't they find a space for Richards?

Though we need to sell players as we have a massive squad with so many players just sitting around, selling our best RB is just stupid and yet again shows how unfair Bruce is with his players. Hutton is supposedly great, but De Laet isn't good enough ? #avfc
