West Bromwich Albion have confirmed the exit of winger James McClean to Stoke City, and many fans have taken to Twitter to bid good riddance to the controversial star.
As reported on the club’s official website, McClean joins Stoke after spending three seasons at the Hawthorns, making more than 100 appearances for the club.
It is said that the fee is undisclosed, but Stoke’s official website report that the initial fee stands at £5million, with the potential to rise to £6million with add-ons.

OPINION
McClean is clearly a player who split opinion at the Hawthorns, and many fans are extremely happy to see him gone. While his controversial political views overshadowed his time at the club, his footballing ability cannot be underestimated. In the right environment, with the right manager, McClean could be a brilliant Championship player, and these West Brom fans may regret being so joyful at his exit. Stoke are building a brilliant squad for a challenge to bounce straight back up, and they will no doubt be at the top end of the table for much of next term. West Brom’s challenge now is to do the same, and that starts with reinvesting this money in the right way.
