Tottenham to hold talks over three transfers

|

Tottenham are set to spring into transfer action next week when the end of the World Cup will allow Daniel Levy to accelerate a series of key deals, according to Football London.

The Trinity Mirror site claim the London club are set to hold talks with Toby Alderweireld, Danny Rose and Mousa Dembele over their futures when they return “home” after the weekend.

Football London report chairman Daniel Levy will then move to secure replacements for each of the trio if deals are struck to allow them to find new clubs.

OPINION

If it has not already been made abundantly clear to Spurs followers, plans to reshape the playing squad depend massively upon the funds provided by sales. Effectively, the club who have punched above their weight to secure a third consecutive Champions League campaign must sell to buy. That will frustrate many of the supporters, but the restrictions imposed by the costs of building a 62,000-seater stadium are considerable despite the increased turnover and profits of recent years. Belgium internationals Alderweireld and Dembele are especially popular players with the White Hart Lane faithful and most are desperate for them to sign new contracts and stay. The case for Rose is less clear after what has been a difficult 18 months for the player, who has watched Ben Davies emerge from the shadows to become the first choice left-back. The likelihood is that at least two of the three will leave and they will be replaced, most likely by cheaper and more youthful alternatives.
