Leeds United have had a £2.5million bid accepted for Brentford winger Florian Jozefzoon as they go head-to-head with Derby County to buy him in the next three weeks, according to Football Insider.

The reliable football site claim the Yorkshire giants have matched Derby’s offer for the Dutchman, 27, and have been granted permission by the London club to hold talks over a potential move.

Football Insider report the decision will now be down to Jozefzoon as to where he plays his football next season as he prepares to choose between his two Championship suitors.

Good move for Leeds?

Getting the green light to negotiate with Jozefzoon is certainly good news for Leeds as they look to sign one of the best wide players in the Football League. Like Derby, they are pushing hard for a player with pace and craft, who can provide the kind of goal creating and goalscoring potential that the likes of Ezgjan Alioski, Stuart Dallas and Hadi Sacko have struggled to do. With Kemar Roofe also more comfortable in a central role, Pablo Hernandez carried a far bigger burden for a wide threat last season than he should have and the addition of the former Holland Under-21 international, who scored seven goals and supplied eight assists for Brentford from 43 matches in all competitions last season, would massively increase Leeds’ forward strength.

Likely to happen?

Leeds certainly have a very good chance and much will now come down to the persuasion skills of manager Marcelo Bielsa. Derby also have a new boss in Premier League legend Frank Lampard, but the ambitious east Midlanders have just signed Harry Wilson on loan from Liverpool and might not be able to give Jozefzoon as clear a first-team run as Leeds. This promises to be a real slug-fest between the two rivals.
