Leeds United have no intention of selling Kemar Roofe this summer after it was reported that he is attracting attention from other clubs, according to Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Phil Hay.

The reliable journalist claimed via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday morning that Leeds are intent on keeping him at Elland Road after he played such a key role in the first team last term when he scored 14 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions.

This comes after Football Insider reported that Championship rivals West Brom and Sheffield United were lining up bids for the 25-year-old having made him one of their priority targets for the transfer window.

OPINION

On the face of it, Roofe’s stats from last season are very good and it’s clear that Marcelo Bielsa should avoid accepting any bids from Sheffield United or West Brom to sign him. However in reality, Roofe was extremely frustrating at times. He failed to find any consistency and his work-rate is questionable. The 25-year-old’s goalscoring record only looks so good because he scored two hat-tricks, one against Newport County in the Carabao Cup, and the other against QPR. It just shows how inconsistent he actually is. In those two games – against weaker sides – he was unplayable, yet on the big occasions, he rarely turns up. Should Leeds cash in on him? If a good bid comes in then they should really consider it. Moving back to West Brom could appeal for the ex-Hawthorns academy player and the Baggies could also offer up a good deal given the fact they could sell some of their players for big money.
