Leeds United are in the hunt to sign Brentford attacker Florian Jozefzoon, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster claims via their website that Leeds’ Championship rivals Derby have had a seven-figure bid worth £1.5million rejected by the London club as it has fallen short of their valuation of the 27-year-old Dutchman.

It is understood that multiple clubs are interested in the former PSV ace, who was in great form at Griffin Park last season as he scored seven goals and supplied eight assists in 43 appearances across all competitions, proving himself to be a steady performer in the Championship.

Good move for Leeds?

Leeds definitely need to add some strength in depth to their wide options, especially now that Pawel Cibicki has left to join Molde on loan until the end of the year.

Jozefzoon has been in great form for Brentford ever since arriving in West London in January 2017.

Last season saw his performances really go up a level and he would definitely be a smart addition at Elland Road if Marcelo Bielsa is able to see off the challenge from a number of other clubs.

Likely to happen?

Until Leeds table a bid of their own it seems as though Derby are in pole position for now.

It’s no shock that £1.5million has been turned down for someone who was so key to Dean Smith’s first team plans last season and he is more than likely going to continue keeping hold of his place in 2018/19 as long as he stays.

At the moment it does not seem likely but there is still a lot of time for things to change.
