A section of Leeds United fans have been reacting on Twitter after it was reported that the Yorkshire club will look at signing Aston Villa forward Jonathan Kodjia this summer if they are unable to pry Matej Vydra away from Derby.
Football Insider has claimed that the Whites are “readying” a move for Villa ace Kodjia, 28, as Marcelo Bielsa continues his hunt for a new centre-forward that can spearhead his newly-inherited side’s attack.
It is understood that Leeds’ attempts to sign Vydra have taken several weeks and the Ivory Coast international is high on the list of potential new targets should a move for the Derby hitman break down.
Some Leeds fans have been left raving about the club’s decision to look at signing Kodjia from cash-strapped Villa, but others are not so sure.

Kodjia would be a good signing if we can take him on loan with a view to permanent transfer so that we can monitor his fitness #lufc

The Mirror has previously reported that ex-Bristol City front man Kodjia earns £35,000-a-week at Aston Villa.
OPINION
Kodjia would certainly be a good addition for Leeds, but surely Vydra would be better. Kodjia scored just one goal in 18 appearances last season due to serious injury and fitness issues and there is no way that he’d be worth the risk. He is just a contingency plan at the moment and this interest in him is probably there to make Derby hurry up and lower their valuation of Vydra, who clearly seems to be Bielsa’s top striker target. Kodjia wouldn’t be a bad plan B, but there are just too many doubts about him being able to meet expectations at Elland Road.
