Leeds United are eyeing up a move to sign Guingamp left-back Pedro Rebocho, according to Kick Off.

The football website reports that the Whites are plotting to snap up the 5’6″ (source: Transfermarkt) defender from the Ligue 1 side, having risen through the ranks at Portuguese outfit Benfica before making the move to France.

The 23-year-old, who is known for his pace down the flanks, moved from Benfica to Guingamp in 2017 for a reported fee of £495,000, making 21 appearances and chipping in with two assists for his new club, while he also picked up five caps for Portugal’s under-21 side, appearing at every youth level for his country.

Good move for Leeds?

Yes, possibly. His performances for Guingamp earned him admirers last season, and he has the ability to surge forward and provide an attacking threat.

One of his top qualities is being able to cover large amounts of ground, and influence has been invaluable to the French outfit, who scored more and leaked in less goals when he was starting.

Rebocho would be a perfect fit for Leeds under Marcelo Bielsa’s new era, and potentially snapping up his services could prove pivotal for the club’s season.

Likely to happen?

Not at the moment. No talks or negotiations are reported to have officially taken place between the two parties over a transfer for the Portuguese, and Leeds have only initiated interest in signing the defender.

It appears as though no other club has come sniffing yet, and this will be a huge boost to Leeds, who now find themselves in pole position to sign Rebocho.

The Whites are in a position in which they can afford to buy Rebocho, and they must take advantage of the fact no other clubs are interested with a swoop for the promising left-back.
