Leeds United are not in the hunt to sign Bristol City left-back Joe Bryan, according to the Bristol Post.

In a new development, the newspaper has refuted a claim by the Mirror in their live transfer blog on Tuesday [02:31pm] that Leeds are in hot pursuit of the 24-year-old after an impressive season at their Championship rivals.

It is now understood that Premier League new boys Fulham are among the clubs actually interested in the defender, who is set to leave Bristol City this summer after failing to agree a new deal at Ashton Gate despite several offers being made to him.

The report adds that a bidding war is now on the cards.

OPINION

Why aren’t Leeds looking to sign Bryan? He would be a brilliant signing for Marcelo Bielsa and the fans will be extremely disappointed to hear that the Whites are not actually looking to snap him up this summer. Bryan is likely to be available for quite a low price given that he seems to be open to leaving Bristol City. However interest from Premier League side Fulham would be a concern for United if they were to join the race. Bryan was very good for the Robins last season as he scored seven goals and supplied three assists in 48 appearances across all competitions. He even found the net against Manchester United and Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup. Leeds do need more cover at left-back. Tom Pearce is young and still has a lot to learn while Laurens De Bock has not exactly shown that he is up to the required standard since arriving at Elland Road in January.
