Wolves are unlikely to sign Barcelona defender Yerry Mina this summer, according to Express & Star journalist Tim Spiers.

The Wolves correspondent claimed via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday that while the West Midlands club are interested in the Colombia international, the chances of them signing him are low.

Italian news outlet Tutto Mercato Web has recently reported that Wanderers have bid up to £17.8million for Mina, 23, after a strong World Cup campaign in which he scored three goals.

Marca has claimed that he is on a deal worth £67,000-a-week at La Liga giants Barca.

OPINION

Mina would be a very good signing for Wolves. He is well down the pecking order at Barcelona and may be offloaded this summer due to the number of non-EU players that clubs are allowed in La Liga. Wolves have already made slight efforts to improve their defence, but they could definitely add more quality, and signing Mina would do exactly that. He is a tall centre-back, who is good in the air and light on his feet. Most managers in the Premier League would be happy with him at centre-back. And that is probably why a move to Wolves is unlikely. Jorge Mendes will obviously not be able to influence the deal and without him, the newly promoted club will find it hard to sign players. Everton are widely linked with Mina, and you can see him ended up at Goodison Park due to the increased reputation of the club and the higher chances of getting European football there.
