West Brom manager Darren Moore is in need of adding another goalkeeper to his squad after exits for long-serving duo Ben Foster and Boaz Myhill.

Moore has already welcomed Sam Johnstone as his new number one at The Hawthorns, but he also needs a back-up to the now former Manchester United goalkeeper – and free agent Tim Krul is the perfect man for that role.

News outlet HITC has reported that Bristol City and Reading are in the race to sign Krul, 30, this summer after he became a free agent on the expiry of his £35,000-a-week (Spotrac) deal at Premier League club Brighton.

It is understood that the two Championship clubs are preparing to make offers for the eight-times Netherlands international, but West Brom must look to gatecrash the hunt for the goalkeeper’s signature and welcome him to the Black Country as Moore’s second choice shot-stopper.

Krul has heaps of experience from playing in England.

He has made over 150 appearances in the Premier League, but injuries have plagued his career in the past few years.

Brighton signed him up on a one-season deal just under 12 months ago, and while he only appeared five times for them in games away from the Premier League, he managed to avoid injury.

That is a sign that the worst of his problems are over and it should give West Brom a lot of encouragement should they wish to sign him.

The Baggies will need to sign another goalkeeper at some point this summer, and Krul is the perfect man to fill in as number two.
