West Brom are in hot pursuit of QPR attacker Luke Freeman, according to the Sunday People.

The newspaper has claimed via their print edition [Sunday 29 July, page 58] that the Baggies want to sign Freeman, 26, after an impressive 2017/18 campaign in which he scored five goals and supplied 13 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions.

It is understood that QPR, who signed Freeman in January 2017, value the former Arsenal and Bristol City attacker at £3million.

Good move for West Brom?

Darren Moore has made five signings so far this summer, improving his defence with most of them, but he is yet to really add much quality to an attack that failed to threaten opponents last season.

Left-winger Harvey Barnes has been signed on loan from Leicester, but the Baggies are really missing a number 10 – and that is why Freeman would be a good addition.

The 26-year-old has a lot of experience in the Championship and managed to impress in what was a poor season for QPR in 2017/18.

For £3million, Albion should look to get this deal done and dusted before their Championship opener against Bolton next week.

Likely to happen?

West Brom are certainly working on a deal-by-deal basis, meaning that they are not signing anyone until another player is sold.

They are yet to cash in on any attackers, which could mean that a deal to sign Freeman would hinge on exits like Nacer Chadli or Jay Rodriguez.

In which case, they would see the Baggies pocket a load of cash, way more than what Freeman would cost.

West Brom’s interest does not appear too advanced yet either, so it’s hard to gauge this one.
