West Brom are in the hunt to sign Liverpool attacker Shejyi Ojo, according to Liverpool Echo reporter James Pearce.

The reliable journalist has claimed via his personal Twitter account that Albion have “registered their interest” in the 21-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Fulham.

Ojo has made 13 senior appearances for Premier League giants Liverpool after rising through the ranks of their academy and has also represented England at six different youth levels, including the Under-21s.

Statistics website Spotrac reports that he is earning £10,000-a-week at Anfield.

Good move for West Brom?

Ojo should really be judged on his loan spell at Fulham last season and while the Cottagers were promoted by winning the play-offs, the Liverpool attacker was hardly key to their campaign.

He made 24 appearances in all competitions last term, scoring two goals and supplying four assists in the process.

However the Anfield man also suffered with injury issues and barely played in Fulham’s strong run towards the end of the camapign.

West Brom should really avoid signing him and look at other options, including Peterborough’s Marcus Maddison.

Likely to happen?

Ojo can play on both the right and the left wing, and at the moment Albion do not really need anyone who plays on the right unless one or both of Matt Phillips and Oliver Burke leave.

The Baggies have already recently signed Harvey Barnes on loan from Leicester.

It’s hard to see this deal happening, but there is still a chance.
