Tottenham are set to table a bid for Roma attacker Cengiz Under, according to Hurriyet.

The Turkish news outlet claims that the Serie A giants value Under, 21, at £31.2million and Spurs are ready to launch an offer to pry him away from the Italian capital within the coming days.

It is understood that Manchester City have also shown interest in the 11-times Turkey international, who only joined Roma last summer on a five-year deal from Basaksehir.

Good move for Tottenham?

Under has had a decent debut season at Roma, but he has not exactly set Serie A alight with his performances and does not exactly justify the £31.2million valuation that has been reported.

He scored eight goals and supplied two assists in 32 appearances for Roma last season, but only managed to earn 18 starts for the club.

Do Tottenham really need another attack-minded winger? Mauricio Pochettino already has the likes of Heung-min Son, Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura who can do a similar job the Under, so maybe it is best for the North London club to not bother launching a concrete move for the Turkey international.

Likely to happen?

As Spurs are already well-stocked in the wide positions, it’s unlikely that Daniel Levy would allow Pochettino to splash the cash on Under, especially as he has not exactly proven himself to be a top talent during his time at Roma.

Another season could see him become a more promising prospect for the Lilywhites, but for now, it does not seem as though Tottenham would be making any sort of move to sign him.
