West Ham’s spending spree looks like it could be set to continue this summer with a move for Rangers attacker Josh Windass, according to a reliable journalist.

Bill Young, from Rock Sport Radio, who has reliable information on Scottish clubs, made the claim on his personal Twitter page on Tuesday night.

He said that the deal for Windass would be completed in the “next week or two” and that he would be going to a Premier League club.

Young said he would release the name of the club in a couple of days but after a fan said it was West Ham, he revealed that was correct.

He said he had no idea of the fee, although the Daily Mail reported that Rangers wanted £3million.

Good move for West Ham?

This could be a really smart move. Windass scored 18 goals for Rangers last season, but he has a very fractious relationship with the fans, and despite his record a lot of them won’t be sad to see him go. There’s a feeling that if Windass could knuckle down and produce his form consistently, that he would be a top draw attacker. Who better to get this out of him than Manuel Pellegrini? If Pellegrini can’t make him play, then he has probably reached the peak of what he can achieve. If the reported figure of £3million is correct, then West Ham could be getting themselves a serious bargain who could become a real force in the Premier League.

Likely to happen?

If the West Ham interest is serious then it seems like the perfect fit. Young’s information is normally solid and he claims that West Ham are the club that Windass will be heading to. He claims the deal will be done in the next week or two and if it just comes down to haggling about the fee, we can’t see it taking too long to get done. £3million or even £4million is nothing for West Ham, despite their serious outlay already this summer. We think it would be a really good move for both parties.
