Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has wasted no time in getting new arrivals through the door at Ibrox but there are still some gaps in the puzzle that he is trying to complete.

A new goalkeeper, a handful of defenders and a couple more midfielders have all been snapped up to try and improve the Light Blues’ squad, and it appears as though the former Liverpool man will be turning his attentions higher up the pitch and bolster the front line – including a swoop at his old club.

However, things do not seem to be going his way, with journalist Alan Nixon reporting that the Gers face a wait to find out whether they have a chance of signing winger Harry Wilson from the Anfield outfit this summer – with it seeming unlikely.

However, the Light Blues should not despair, and instead can find their missing piece of the puzzle – a pacey winger with the ability to change a game in an instant – at Newcastle United instead.

The Shields Gazette claim that 22-year-old flyer Rolando Aarons could be destined for the exit door this summer and if that is the case, then Rangers should be all over a move, either on loan or permanently.

His versatility, able to play on the left or right, makes him a useful squad player, while he will be desperate to prove himself after a tough couple of years at St James’ Park, and Gerrard would love to have that fire out on the football pitch.

He is a mercurial talent, who has had a tendency to go missing at times, but when he has the ability to spark a game into life at a moment’s notice, it is worth carrying him at times.

If Gerrard wants a dazzling winger, Aarons could well be his man.
