Liverpool keeper Adam Bogdan is set to join Scottish Premiership side Hibernian on a season-long loan deal, according to Sky Sports.

The report from Sky comes at a time when the goalkeeping position at Anfield has never been so divisive.

Hungarian born Bogdan, 30, has been training with the Scottish side following his return from a serious cruciate knee ligament injury.

With neither Loris Karius nor Simon Mignolet impressing in between the sticks for the Reds and now Bogdan moving to Hibernian there is a real lack of strength in depth in the position.

The 6ft 3in (source: Transfermarkt) giant of a keeper is under contract at Liverpool until 2019 but it looks as though his fate on Merseyside is sealed with the news.

Good move for Liverpool?

Bogdan has made just six appearances for Liverpool since joining them in 2015 from Bolton so in all honesty it won’t make very much difference or have an effect of any real significance on matters at the club.

It is a good move for both parties  – the 30-year-old will want to kick start his career having seen it marred by injuries and Liverpool will see him off their wage books.

However, the Reds desperately need a top quality signing in goal in light of Karius’ gaffes during the Champions League final as well as Mignolet’s ability to drop a clanger.

Likely to happen?

It is just a matter of time before this deal is confirmed, particularly as the player is already training in East Lothian with the Hibbies, it makes sense that a switch would be on the cards.

Bogdan rarely gets a look in at the Anfield club so there is no need for him to remain under Jurgen Klopp and given that his contract comes to an end next season he needs this loan move now to ensure he gets a new deal elsewhere next summer.
